KARAOKE

Make your students sing a song that is very popular in the moment. This is a fun way to acquire new vocabulary. When they know the lyrics of different songs, organize a karaoke. They will enjoy it very much!

SCRIPTS

The class divides into teams. Each team has a script and has to act it out, learning by heart the dialogs and imitating the gestures of the characters. The others have to guess the film. 

Alien 1: a stranger!

Alien2: From the outside!

Aliens: Ooooo-ooo-

Buzz: Greetings! I come in peace. Who is in charge here?

Aliens: The claaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw   (Aliens point upward)

Alien 1: The claw is our master

Alien 2: The claw chooses who will go and who will stay

Sid inserts coins and plays the crane game.

Alien 1: The claw. It moves.

The crane drops and grabs Alien 3.

Alien 3: I have been chosen! Bye Bye my friends. I go to a better place.

Sid plays again. The claw takes Buzz. Woody tries to stop it. 

Alien 1: He has been chosen. 

Alien 2: He must go.

The claw takes Woody and Buzz.

Sid: Double Price!!!!!!!!

Describing pictures. Topic: Violence

Make your students describe  the following picture. Ask them questions: What is happening? When and where was the photograph taken? Why do you think they are fighting? Explain what really happened after they have conjectured (Ukranian Parlament Fight).

Ask them questions about violence: Why do you think we are sometimes violent? In which cases do we react violently?  Do we like to observe violent scenes (in real life and films? why (yes or not)? Have you ever been in a fistfight? Debate about the following statement made by Hannah Arendt in her book "On Violence":

"Violence is nothing more than the flagrant manifestation of power"

GYMKHANA

We divide the class in different teams of 8 members maximum. Each team has to pass proofs and carry out different missions. The teacher gives instructions and informs the students about what they have to do at any time. 

First proof: Relay race. Students make a row. Two participants (the strongest ones) carry one by one the members of the team to one predetermined area of the playground. The distance between the starting point and the end has to be the same for all teams. The winner is the first to get the information about the mission they will have to accomplish. 

First mission: "Find one leaf of a tree, write a poem about the season we are in"

The most original poem will win a point. 

Second proof:  One person of each team is blindfolded. the teacher hides several objects (one per team) in the playground. The members of the team give directions ( straight ahead, turn left, turn right, one step forward, etc.) without moving from one point. When the blindfolded participant finds the object, he or she finds out without looking what the object is and say the name outloud in english. 

Second mission: The students are in the year 2056, they are scientists working in different projects and presenting them in a convention, they have to draw the invention of the future and make a presentation of it. The most original invention will win the prize (One point)!
